Tetrabenzyl thiuram disulfide (TBzTD) is used to replace Tyuram-based accelerators such as TMTD, mainly because Tyuram-based accelerators are prone to produce carcinogenic nitrosamines, while diphenylnitrosamines are not carcinogenic. Used in NR, SBR, EPDM, NBR system can be used as fast primary accelerator or secondary accelerator, safer than TMTD process and longer anti-coking time, sometimes used in PVC rubber vulcanization inhibitor.
