EPDM rubber can be vulcanized by the ordinary vulcanization method used for diolefin rubber, but due to the low number of double bonds in general EPDM rubber, and thus the vulcanization speed is slow.
1、Sulfur vulcanization system
Sulfur vulcanization system has the advantages of safe operation, moderate vulcanization speed, good physical and mechanical properties and good co-curing with diolefin rubber, is the most widely used EPDM rubber vulcanization system.
Sulfur vulcanization system is suitable for various rubber products. In addition to accelerator TRQ/M and accelerator BZ/M system, there are many frost phenomenon.
2、Sulphur donor vulcanization system
The use of sulfur donor instead of part of the sulfur, can be generated by the vulcanized rubber mainly with a single sulfur bond or double sulfur bond, which can improve the rubber's heat-resistant and high-temperature compression and deformation properties, to extend the scorching time. The sulfur donors used are mainly thiurams, such as tetrasulfurized bis(pentamethylene)thiuram (DPTT), TMTD, TMTM, MBSS and 4, 4'-dithiobimorpholine (DTDM), etc. The sulfur donor system is mainly used to replace part of the sulfur, so that the resulting vulcanized rubber mainly has single or double sulfur bonds, thus improving the heat resistance and compression deformation properties at high temperatures and prolonging the scorching time.
3、Peroxide sulfide system
Peroxide vulcanization is needed for those special products which require better high temperature resistance (above 150℃) and very low compression permanent deformation.
