On the evening of 12 March, Finnish group Metso reported a steam explosion at its rubber plant in Irapato, Mexico, resulting in several injuries at the site.
The incident, which occurred in the factory's hand-lining area, left 10 people injured, all of whom had non-life-threatening injuries and property damage, the report said. The group is working with local authorities to investigate the cause of the explosion.
Heikki Metsala, president of the Metso Consumables business area, said: 'Our main focus at this time is to ensure the safety and health of our employees and to support all efforts to recover from this incident. We are assessing the potential impact on customer deliveries and will liaise with customers as required."
