Thiazoles are the earlier varieties of organic accelerators. It is an acid accelerator. It is characterized by high vulcanization activity, which can endow the vulcanizate with good aging resistance and fatigue resistance. Therefore, it is widely used in the rubber industry and consumes a large amount of it. The main varieties are as follows.

(1) 2-thiol benzothiazole The trade name is accelerator M.

This product is light yellow powder with extremely bitter taste, non-toxic and stable in storage. As a general-purpose accelerator, it has a rapid acceleration effect on natural rubber and diene-type general-purpose synthetic rubber, and has good vulcanization flatness. It is easy to disperse in rubber and does not pollute, but it is not suitable for food rubber products. The amount used as the first accelerator is 1-2 parts, and the amount used as the second accelerator is 0.2-0.5 parts. It can also be used as a peptizer for natural rubber.

(2) Dibenzothiazole disulfide The trade name is Accelerator DM.

This product is light yellow powder, bitter in taste, non-toxic and stable in storage. Its characteristics and uses are similar to M, but the critical temperature of vulcanization is 130 °C. Above 140 ℃, the activity increases, and it has good after-effect, and the vulcanization operation is safe. Often used with other accelerators to improve its activity.
