According to the Malaysian Department of Statistics on August 8, 2023 June natural rubber exports fell 16.7% year-on-year to 48,857 tons, an increase of 31.8% from the previous year. Of which 50.6% exported to China, the other in order of Germany 7.8%, the United States 4.9%, Pakistan 3.1%, Iran 2.5%.
Malaysia's natural rubber imports in June was 48,031 tons, down 43.5% year-on-year, down 21% from a year earlier. Standard rubber, concentrated latex, and other shapes of natural rubber were the main import categories, and their main import source countries were Thailand, Côte d'Ivoire, the Philippines, and Myanmar.
Total monitorable natural rubber output in June was 29,867 tons, down 3.9% year-on-year and up 23.8% sequentially. Small plantation plantation production accounted for 85.9% of the total, while state-owned plantation production accounted for 14.1%.
In the second quarter, the country's natural rubber production slipped 7.6% to 77,453 tons from 83,848 tons in the first quarter and increased 3.8% from 74,635 tons in the same period in 2022.
Malaysia's natural rubber stocks stood at 159,742 tons in June, down 5.4% from a year earlier and 44.3% from a year earlier. Of these stocks, 88.8% were concentrated in the hands of rubber processors, 11.1% in the hands of downstream terminals, and 0.2% in the hands of large plantation owners.
Total domestic consumption of tenax in June fell 30.8% year-on-year to 25,120 tons, down 3.8% from a year earlier. The latex glove industry remains the mainstay of Malaysia's tenpin consumption, accounting for 70.6% of consumption, 8.6% of tire and hose consumption, 9.3% of rubber thread, and 11.5% of other industries.
