Recently, the 5,000 tons/year liquid rubber plant of SINOPEC Maoming Branch successfully produced qualified products - liquid rubber for high-frequency copper-clad laminates. The device adopts the technology independently developed by SINOPEC Beijing Research Institute of Chemical Industry, and the successful commissioning marks the first time for China's high-performance liquid rubber to be localized, which is a major breakthrough and will provide key raw material support for the security of China's information industry.

High-frequency copper-clad laminates are ultra-low dielectric loss electronic circuit substrates applied to high-frequency electronic circuits, and are the most high-end electronic circuit substrate materials in the field of copper-clad laminates. High-performance liquid rubber is the preferred material for one of the main substrates for high-frequency copper-clad laminates. The high-frequency copper-clad laminates prepared by high-performance liquid rubber have the characteristics of low dielectric constant, low dielectric loss and low water absorption, fast signal propagation speed, and no distortion in the transmission process. Due to high technical barriers, China's high-frequency copper-clad laminates and other high-end areas with a high degree of dependence on imports of key substrates, is one of China's petrochemical industry urgently need to overcome the technical challenges.
According to reports, Sinopec liquid rubber as a high-end new materials, one of the key directions, to break the status quo of China's constraints in this field. At present, SINOPEC has successfully developed four types of high-performance liquid rubber technology, eight high-end product grades and their production technology, and will successively realize large-scale production. This series of high-end new materials will be widely used in 5G high-frequency communication such as cell phones, computers, automobiles, military industry, aerospace, etc., flexible printing with high environmental protection requirements such as infants, food, cosmetics, etc., as well as high-performance TPVs and green tires, etc., which will greatly satisfy the domestic market's demand for high-end liquid rubber products.
In recent years, SINOPEC has continued to lead China's new materials industry to achieve high-quality development, and has initially formed a whole industrial chain from R&D and production to marketing and sales. Shanghai Petrochemical has successfully put into production large tow carbon fibers, Zhenhai Refining and Chemical's first set of 1,000-ton high grade polybutene-1 unit has been successfully put into production, Yizheng Chemical Fibers has realized the industrialization of three biodegradable plastic varieties: PBST, PBAT and PBSA, and Maoming Petrochemical's synthetic oil unit and 1,000-ton/year POE pilot plant have been successfully started up. In addition, SINOPEC is accelerating the research and development of new materials for high-end cable materials, medical and health materials and other important areas related to national economy and people's livelihood, and has set up professional new materials companies and research institutes in Ningbo, Tianjin and Anqing, covering a wide range of fields such as high-performance resins, high-performance synthetic rubbers, high-performance fibers and functional membrane materials.
