Rubber additives, as a group of fine chemical products, its core role in the production of rubber products, they are deliberately added to the natural rubber or synthetic rubber, in order to give the rubber products the necessary performance characteristics, to ensure that the products have a longer service life, and to optimize the overall performance of the rubber compound in the process of processing.

Rubber additives are usually classified into six categories according to their different roles: vulcanization system additives, protective system additives, operating system additives, reinforcing and filling system additives, bonding system additives and other system additives. Vulcanization system additives are one of them, mainly including vulcanizing agents, accelerators and activators.

The upstream of rubber chemicals is mainly the petrochemical industry, including the extraction and processing of raw materials such as oil and natural gas. These raw materials are the main raw materials for the production of rubber auxiliaries, such as sulfur, phenols, ketones and so on. Rubber auxiliaries downstream are widely used in the production process of various rubber products such as tires, hoses, tapes, seals, auto parts and so on.

The industrial output value of China's rubber auxiliaries industry reached RMB 32.45 billion in 2022, representing a year-on-year growth of 10.0%. In terms of sales revenue, the total sales revenue of China's rubber auxiliaries amounted to 28.9 billion yuan in 2021, representing a year-on-year increase of 32.0%.

As of the first half of 2023, the total output of China's rubber auxiliary industry has jumped to 741,000 tons, up a remarkable 10.7% compared with the same period of the previous year, a figure that strongly confirms that China's rubber auxiliary industry is on the track of continuous expansion and steady development.

As a key link in the rubber products industry chain, the development prospect of the rubber chemicals industry shows a positive trend. With the sustained development and transformation and upgrading of the global tire industry, automobile manufacturing, construction, electronics and electrical appliances, aerospace and other industries, there is an increasing demand for high-performance, green and environmentally friendly rubber chemicals. From the perspective of market demand, due to the wide application of rubber products as well as the development of new fields and technologies, the performance requirements for rubber additives are getting higher and higher, such as heat-resistant, cold-resistant, abrasion-resistant, anti-aging, environmentally friendly and non-toxic properties, which provides a broad market space for the research and development and production of special, high-efficiency, green rubber additives.
