There are many factors that cause rubber aging. Research shows that the main factors are oxygen, ozone, trace amounts of varicose metals, sunlight, ultraviolet light and mold corrosion. Flexural fatigue mainly increases the contact area of rubber molecules and oxygen, thus accelerating its aging. In order to prevent the aging of rubber and products, a special component is added to the formula, which is an antioxidant!
1. Heat resistance
The thermal aging of rubber is an oxidative aging caused by free radicals, and amine or phenolic free radical blockers are more effective in preventing such aging. For products requiring a high degree of heat resistance, choose diphenylamine antioxidants and heat-resistant antioxidants such as TMDQ.
2. Flexural cracking resistance
Flexural cracking is the result of oxidative aging on the surface of the product due to free radical reaction. To prevent this form of aging, the choice of amine or phenolic anti-ozonant (free radical inhibitor) has a certain role.
3. Ozone resistance
Anti-ozone agents include p-phenylenediamine, TMDQ, sulfur pulse and protective wax, etc. Generally, p-phenylenediamine compounds with non-polluting sulfur pulse compounds and paraffin wax can be used to obtain excellent results.
4. Anti-hazardous metal aging properties
Anti-hazardous metal aging agent can be divided into metal ion sealant and metal surface inert agent. The former has excellent effect with p-phenylenediamine and bisphenol compounds, while the latter has thiol compounds (such as antioxidant MB) and trichothecene compounds.
5. Anti-light cracking aging property
Carbon black is an excellent UV absorber. Therefore, anti-light aging agent is unnecessary for carbon black compounding, while it is indispensable for light-colored products (carbon black is only used as coloring agent). For anti-light aging compounding, the first antioxidant and the second antioxidant are generally used together.
6. Selection of paraffin wax
The paraffin wax in the rubber material is sprayed on the surface of the product after vulcanization, forming a physical protection film to effectively prevent ozone cracking of the product.

In the use of antioxidants, an antioxidant in the rubber with several aspects of protection, sometimes a certain two or three antioxidants and its protective effect more than the superposition of the effect of each antioxidant alone, this phenomenon is called the "synergistic effect" of antioxidants.
