The main global antioxidants production company is Ciba Refining. Ciba Refining is currently the world's largest antioxidant manufacturer. It has established wholly-owned or joint-venture antioxidant production plants on all continents in the world. In 2012 Ciba Refining also invested nearly 100 million US dollars to build a plastic antioxidant device on Jurong Island, Singapore, with an initial capacity of 30kt / a. It was completed and put into production in 2014, accounting for about 30% of the global antioxidant market.
Due to the rapid growth of demand in Asia, antioxidant companies in the United States and Western Europe are accelerating the transfer of production facilities to Asia. At present, the production of antioxidants in Asia is mainly concentrated in China, South Korea, Taiwan, and Japan. North America, Western Europe and Asia are the major producers and consumers of antioxidants worldwide. North America, Western Europe, and Japan have larger consumption of antioxidants.
The plastic antioxidants produced and consumed in China are divided into four categories: hindered phenols, phosphites, thios, and composites. In the 1950s, the monophenol hindered phenol antioxidant BHT was developed in China. In the 1960s, thioester antioxidants DLTDP and DSTDP were developed. In the 1970s, polyphenol hindered phenol antioxidants 1010 and 1076 were developed. In the 1980s, phosphite antioxidants 168 and composite antioxidants 215 and 225 were developed. The product variety and product quality of domestic plastic antioxidants can basically meet the needs of the domestic petrochemical and plastics industries. The main antioxidants are exported every year.
The rapid growth of China's plastic output has promoted the production and consumption of antioxidants in China. In recent years, many large olefin plants in China have been completed and put into operation. The market for plastic antioxidants in China is promising.
The production distribution of China's plastic products industry has obvious regional characteristics, and its main production areas are concentrated in the southeast coast of China. The regional distribution of plastic product output in 2009 is as follows: the output of plastic products in Guangdong reached 105.32 million tons, an increase of -0.50% year-on-year, and still ranked first in the country; 438.54 million tons, an increase of 12.37% year-on-year, ranking third; Jiangsu Province is 4.014 million tons, an increase of 10.05% year-on-year, ranking fourth; Liaoning is 2.751 million tons, an increase of 18.56%, ranking fifth. The output of other Hebei, Henan, Anhui, Sichuan, and Fujian plastic products is between 1.4-1.6 million tons. The five provinces of Guangdong, Zhejiang, Shandong, Jiangsu and Liaoning rank among the top in the country. The total output of plastic products in the five provinces is 29.897 million tons, accounting for 66.5% of the total output of plastic products.
"2014-2018 China Plastic Antioxidant Industry In-depth Research and Prospect Forecast Report" shows that from January to May 2014, China's plastic antioxidant industry output reached 18,100 tons, a year-on-year increase of 23.8%. In 2013, the output of China's plastic antioxidant industry reached 32,700 tons, a year-on-year increase of 14.3%.
1-5 From January to May 2014, China's plastic antioxidant industry demand reached 27,900 tons, a year-on-year increase of 18.9%. In 2013, China's plastic antioxidant industry demand reached 43,100 tons, a year-on-year increase of 9.4%.
1-5 From January to May 2014, China's plastic antioxidant industry's imports reached 0.98 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 8.4%. In 2013, China's plastic antioxidant industry imports reached 11,600 tons, a year-on-year decrease of 4.1%.
1-5 From January to May 2014, China's plastic antioxidant industry exports reached 0.17 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 19.8%. In 2013, China's plastic antioxidant industry exports reached 0.3 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 7.1%.
With the rapid development of the plastics industry, especially the continuous development and application of various new functional plastics, the global antioxidant industry is developing in the direction of specialization, serialization, compounding, greening and efficiency. For the stable and healthy development of China's antioxidant industry, to gain a foothold in the increasingly fierce market competition in the future, the key is to understand the current trend of antioxidant development, and vigorously develop antioxidant varieties suitable for the development of the plastics industry.
