The U.S. Tire Manufacturers Association (USTMA) released its 2022 U.S. tire market shipment data forecast on March 1.
The agency predicts that the total U.S. tire shipments for the year are expected to be 340.2 million, an increase from 335.2 million in 2021 and 332.7 million in 2019, with growth rates of 1.5% and 2.3%, respectively.
This is already a considerable growth rate for the already very mature and stable U.S. market, especially in the post-pandemic period.
According to USTMA's forecast, OE shipments of passenger car, light truck and truck tires in the United States are expected to increase by 6.2%, 4.4% and 6.3% respectively (year-on-year, the same below), with a total increase of about 2.9 million. Shipments of replacement tires for passenger cars and trucks are expected to increase by 0.9% and 1.0%, respectively, while shipments of replacement tires for light trucks edge down by 0.3%, and total replacement tire shipments are expected to increase by 2.2 million units.
