The Impact Of The Worsening Global COVID-19 On The Rubber Additives Industry
2023-02-27

During this period of time, the new crown pneumonia epidemic continued to ferment, and European and American countries became the hardest hit areas of the epidemic. As of about 9:30 on the 27th, Beijing time, the number of confirmed cases of new coronary pneumonia in the world has exceeded 1.3 million, and more than 500,000 new cases have been newly diagnosed within two days. In order to fight the epidemic, 60 countries have declared a state of emergency, and tire companies in many countries and regions have announced the suspension or reduction of production. The export of my country's rubber additives industry may be suppressed.

China rubber additives exports mainly include rubber antioxidants and vulcanization accelerators. In 2019, South Korea in Asia and the United States in North America depended on China’s rubber additives in a relatively high proportion. The amount of rubber additives imported from China was 59,000 tons and 54,000 tons. There are currently 21 countries affected by the epidemic. The total amount of rubber additives exported to these countries in 2019 is about 200,000 tons, and the average monthly import volume is about 17,000 tons.

Based on the current epidemic situation, China's rubber additives exports will be affected at least in the next two months. Based on China's rubber additives exports in 2019, about 34,000 tons of accelerators and antioxidants cannot be exported. In 2019, the output of rubber additives in my country was about 823,000, and the amount of rubber additives that could not be exported accounted for about 4.1% of the output of rubber additives.

Of the total amount of Chinese rubber additives exported to the five continents, the total amount exported to Asia is about 292,000 tons, followed by Europe with about 76,000 tons, and North America with about 70,000 tons, and exports to South America. The Americas and Oceania have relatively small volumes, about 23,000 tons and 5,000 tons, respectively. From the statistics of the continents that are most affected by public health events, Asia accounts for about 27.2%, North America is about 80.6%, Europe is about 58.8%, and South America and Oceania are affected respectively. 65.5% and 98.5%.

The degree of impact in Asia is relatively low, South Korea accounts for about 74% of the affected Asia, and as South Korea’s degree of impact slows down significantly, the overall degree of impact on China’s rubber additives exported to Asia will be further reduced. ; Domestic tire manufacturers have resumed work and production, and the demand for rubber additives is gradually recovering; the suspension of production by overseas companies may bring opportunities for domestic rubber products companies.

Under the situation that the domestic demand for downstream tires and other products has not increased significantly, 34,000 tons of rubber additives may have a certain impact on domestic supply and demand. However, as the domestic resumption of work continues, Asian countries including China may be able to consume These rubber additives. The continuous fermentation of public health incidents that have led to a state of emergency in many countries has little impact on my country's rubber additives industry.
