THAILAND, Dec. 7 (Xinhua) -- Phoek Lertwangphong, a member of the Rubber Management Working Group of the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives (MOAC), said the ministry will speed up the promotion of the price stabilization policy for various types of rubber, such as cups of rubber blocks. In particular, rubber production is higher in December-January every year and is expected to be around 600,000 tons in December this year due to the cold weather. However, the report from the rubber department found that the country's rubber stockpiles in October decreased by 17% compared to the same period last year, so the available consumption in December will be lower than expected. However, the agriculture minister has asked the Rubber Authority of Thailand to prepare support measures to help rubber farmers achieve rubber price stability.
Sukthat Tangviriyakul, deputy director of operations at the Rubber Authority of Thailand, said the Authority has started to prepare support measures to stabilize rubber prices. In particular, the Cup Rubber Block, in order to control the amount of rubber released to the market in excess of the demand, will implement the Slowdown Sales Project and has allocated a budget for the implementation of the project, which can be carried out immediately, with a target of collecting 80,000 tons of rubber from the rubber farmers' organizations that have joined this project. The project will be implemented by purchasing rubber through the central rubber market of the Rubber Board and network markets throughout the country, and purchasing rubber from farmers' organizations through the Thai Rubber Trading (TRT) rubber trading system at a fair price to the sellers.
