According to a report by Thai media on March 13, rubber prices ushered in the best year in the past nine years. Thai rubber prices rose to 73 baht per kilogram. However, officials in the country reminded to be alert to the risk of sudden fluctuations in rubber prices.
The price of rubber in Thailand has risen since the end of February 2022, and the latest quotations have reached new highs. For example, the price of latex is 73 baht (about 15 yuan) per kilogram, and the price of smoked sheet rubber is 67.70 baht (about 14 yuan) per kilogram. RMB), and the cup of glue has also reached 51.50 baht (about 10 yuan).
This also makes the current price of rubber in Thailand higher than the government protection price, such as cup rubber more than doubled. Sida International, Thailand's largest producer of surgical latex gloves, believes that rubber prices will usher in a bullish momentum, and the international rubber price is expected to be no less than 170 cents per kilogram in 2022.
However, the Thai Rubber Authority believes that the current round of rubber price increases is more due to the reduction of domestic rubber stocks in China and Japan, which has stimulated the demand for rubber imports. Therefore, international rubber prices have also increased.
The bureau predicts that Thailand's rubber exports will reach 4.22 million tons in 2022, a year-on-year increase of 2.03%. Thailand's total rubber exports in the first quarter were 1.11 million tons, an increase of 4.29%. This year, the total global rubber production is estimated at 14.544 million tons. If the global GDP increases by 5%, the demand for rubber will reach 14.822 million tons. Officials also reminded to be alert to sudden fluctuations in rubber prices.
