SNCP: Rubber Material Prices Will Continue To Rise
2023-03-14

According to the latest data released by the French Federation of Rubber and Polymers (SNCP), the price of rubber materials has been running in an upward channel since the beginning of the year.

The synthetic rubber market partly reflects the price of butadiene, which rose 38% year-on-year in early 2022, in line with the trend in the crude oil market. The prices of various types of synthetic rubber are as follows: styrene butadiene rubber (SBR) up 35%, ethylene propylene diene diene rubber (EPDM) up 60%, nitrile butadiene rubber (NBR) up 57%, and neoprene rubber (CR) up 28%. At the same time, the price of carbon black (N300), a rubber reinforcing agent, rose 38 percent.

In the natural rubber market, PRICES of RSS3 cigarette gum tracked by SNCP have recovered year-on-year, trading at $1.98 / kg in January. Looking back to January 2021, the price trend for RSS3 was significantly higher, with prices approaching $1.63 / kg, but still well below the $2.17 / kg price seen during the 2020 outbreak.

According to SNCP, rubber prices will continue to rise in 2022.
