SCHENECTADY, N.Y.—SI Group Inc., a supplier of performance additives, chemical intermediates and process solutions, has added phenolic ester antioxidant capacity at a plant in China.

The additional production of Ethanox 4716 and Naugard PS48 antioxidants in Jinshan, China, already is operational, the company said in a news release. The expansion was implemented to meet the growth of SI Group customers in the Asia-Pacific region and follows a $50 million investment across three manufacturing sites in North America.

"Our investment demonstrates SI Group's commitment to supporting our customers' growth in both the lubricants and plastics industries and is aligned with our brand promise to deliver the solutions they need with increased security of supply," said Joey Gullion, chief commercial officer of SI Group.

The added capacity is for customers in the lubricants and plastics industries, according to SI Group.

Ethanox 4716 is a liquid antioxidant with low volatility that can be used in high-temperature applications such as engine oils, protecting against lubricant degradation.

Naugard PS48 is a stabilizer that protects against degradation across a range of polymers and reduces scorch in polyurethane foam manufacturing.
