A. Definition and classification of rubber

The word rubber comes from the Indian word cau-uchu, which means "weeping tree".

Rubber is a material, which can quickly and strongly recover its deformation under large deformations and can be vulcanized. Vulcanized rubber is not substantially soluble in (but can be dissolved in) boiling solvents such as benzene, methyl ethyl ketone, ethanol-toluene mixture. Vulcanized rubber is stretched to twice its original length at room temperature and held for one minute, and then, after removing the external force, it can recover to less than 1.5 times its original length within one minute.

Rubber is a polymer material, which has many common features of such materials, such as low density, low permeability to fluids, insulation, viscoelasticity and environmental aging. In addition, rubber has a low hardness against flimsiness.

Rubber is the basic raw material of the rubber industry and is widely used in the manufacture of tires, hoses, tapes, cables and other various rubber products.

B, the application of rubber vulcanization products
Rubber vulcanization products are developed with the automotive industry. The sixties of the twentieth century, the automobile industry and petrochemical industry, the rapid development of the rubber industry production level has been greatly improved; into the seventies, in order to adapt to the high speed of the car, safety and energy saving, eliminate pollution, prevent public hazards and other aspects of the need to promote the new varieties of tires constantly out of view. Raw material rubber consumption in transportation occupies a considerable proportion. In the sea, land and air transportation, none of them are away from the rubber vulcanized products.

C, the development of the world rubber industry
1、Formation period
As early as the 11th century, the people of South America that has begun to exercise wild natural rubber. 1736 French C. Condamina participated in the French Academy of Sciences to South America expedition, observed that the rubber tree out of the latex can be cured into elastic material.

2、Development period
In 1845, the British R.W. Thomson first proposed a patent for pneumatic tires. 1888, the British J.B. Dunlop manufactured the first pneumatic bicycle tires. 1895, the first pneumatic car tires were introduced.

3、Prosperous period
After the Second World War, the booming countries in the automobile industry, such as the boom, to promote the development of the world's rubber industry in 1943, the introduction of steel cord tires, in 1948, the French company Mishlin trial production of successful radial tires. In the same year, tubeless tires were also introduced. In the early 70s all reached a very high level. This is the fastest growing period of the world rubber industry.

4、Stable development period
In the mid-70s, the price of oil rose, seriously impacting the automobile industry and petrochemical industry, the rubber industry then appeared a crisis, the recession has been connected to the early 80s. With the rise of new technological innovation around the world, the widespread use of electronic calculators, greatly improving the technical level of rubber production.
