Recently, at the invitation of the Institute of Agroforestry Science and Rural Development of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry of Laos, scientific researchers from the Institute of Rubber Research of the Chinese Academy of Tropical Agricultural Sciences (hereinafter referred to as the Institute of Rubber Research of the Chinese Academy of Tropical Agricultural Sciences) traveled to Laos to conduct research and carry out training on the rehabilitation of dead barks of natural rubber and processing technology.
The expert group went to Vientiane Rubber Plantation, Savannakhet Rubber Plantation and Rongxiang Rubber Development Co., Ltd. base of Guangdong Agricultural Reclamation Laos Taihua Co., Ltd. to check the situation of dead rubber trees and rubber cutting, and to provide guidance and training to the local farmers on the prevention and control of the dead rubber tree rehabilitation technology.
In Yunnan Nongken Yunnan Rubber Company Nanta Rubber Factory and Pukka Rubber Factory production workshop, the researchers visited the whole rubber production process from the raw materials to the processing of rubber into products, understood the acquisition of rubber raw materials, production and processing, sewage treatment and other work carried out, and targeted to explain in detail the technical difficulties and innovations of the rubber production and processing for the Laotian staff.
This training is an important part of the Lancang Cooperation - Laos Natural Rubber Science and Technology Poverty Alleviation Project. The project, led by the Institute of Rubber of Chinese Academy of Thermal Sciences, aims to enhance the competitiveness and efficiency of the Lao rubber industry through scientific and technological innovation and talent training, and to contribute China's scientific and technological power to increase the income of Lao rubber farmers and alleviate poverty. Since the launch of the project in 2022, a number of cooperative activities have been carried out in Laos, including the establishment of a germplasm resource bank, the cultivation of new varieties, the development of technical standards, and the training of talents.
In the next step, the Institute of Rubber of Chinese Academy of Thermal Sciences will carry out regular exchanges and studies with Guangdong Nongken Laos Taihua Co., Ltd. and Yunnan Nongken Yunrubber Co., Ltd. in order to promote local technological innovation, drive the local rubber farmers to increase income and reduce poverty, and promote the cooperation between China and Laos in modern agriculture to make new progress, and to contribute to the high-quality development of building the "One Belt, One Road" together.
