Antioxidant 264: Other names T501 antioxidant, antioxidant BHT, dibutyl hydroxytoluene. The main components are free phenol, ash powder, sulfate, iron, heavy metals, arsenic, potassium carbonate, chloride, sulfide and so on. Antioxidant 264 is non-toxic, non-flammable, non-explosive, non-corrosive, good storage stability. Antioxidant 264 is white crystal or crystalline powder, basically odorless and tasteless. Melting point 69.0~70.0 ℃, boiling point 265 ℃, quite stable to heat; contact with metal ions, especially iron ions do not show color, antioxidant effect is good; when heated with water vapor together with volatilization; insoluble in water, glycerol and propylene glycol, but soluble in ethanol (25%) and grease. Antioxidant 264 consists of the reaction of p-cresol with isobutene under pressure in the presence of a catalyst, concentrated sulfuric acid, and a dehydrating agent, alumina. The product is produced by distillation, concentration and crystallization.
