Conventional rubber materials fail quickly in high-temperature environments, so high-temperature-resistant rubber materials are needed to meet the needs of special fields. High-temperature resistant rubber materials have a wide range of applications in machinery, electronics, aviation and other fields. This article will introduce some common high-temperature resistant rubber materials as well as their characteristics and applications.
Fluorine rubber (FKM)
Fluoroelastomer is a material with excellent high temperature resistance. It remains flexible and chemically stable at high temperatures. This is due to the fluorine bonds contained in the molecules of fluoroelastomer that give it high thermal stability. As a result, fluoroelastomer is widely used in automotive engine seals, high-temperature pipes and valves, and other applications.
Silicone Rubber (VMQ)
Silicone rubber is another material with good resistance to high temperatures. It is able to maintain good elasticity and aging resistance under extreme temperature conditions. In addition, silicone rubber has excellent electrical insulation properties and radiation resistance, so it is widely used in the electronics industry. For example, silicone rubber seals play an important role in electronic components and optical equipment.
Chloroprene Rubber (CR)
Neoprene rubber is a material with high temperature and corrosion resistance. It maintains good tensile resistance and hardness even in high-temperature environments. Chloroprene rubber is commonly used in the manufacture of oil-, acid- and alkali-resistant seals, pipe linings and other products. At the same time, neoprene also has good waterproof performance, so it is also widely used in the construction industry.
Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE)
Polytetrafluoroethylene is a very special high temperature material. It has excellent corrosion resistance, a low coefficient of friction, and excellent insulating properties. PTFE does not melt or deform in high temperature environments, so it is commonly used to make seals and pipes that are resistant to acids, alkalis, and chemicals. It is also widely used in areas such as food processing and medical devices.
Chlorosulfurized polyethylene (CSM)
Chloro Vulcanized Polyethylene is a rubber material that performs well in high temperature environments. It has good resistance to oil, acids and alkalis, and ozone. For this reason, chlorinated vulcanized polyethylene is often used as a manufacturing material for products such as liquid seals, rubber linings and conveyor belts. In addition, chlorinated vulcanized polyethylene is resistant to aging, making it suitable for outdoor use.
