DPG(D) is a medium-rate alkaline accelerator. It is used as a co-promoter in NR and SBR ingredients together with thiazole and hyposulfonamide accelerators. dpg has better storage stability than dithiocarbamates and thiuram accelerators, but is less reactive. DPG is used as an auxiliary gelling agent (foam stabilizer) in emulsions using fluorosilicone foaming processes.

DPG belongs to the promoter guanidine class of products. 1906 Oenslager (Oenslager) in the study of the quality of natural rubber stability, accidentally found that aniline has vulcanization promotion, in order to solve the problem of volatility and toxicity of aniline, to the discovery of aniline and carbon disulfide condensation product diphenylthiourea (promoter CA) instead of aniline. In 1922, the accelerator DPG derived from the accelerator CA was also developed.

DPG is commonly used in natural and synthetic rubber, mainly in the manufacture of rubber industry products such as tires, rubber sheets, rubber shoes, hard rubber and thick-walled products. It is also used as a cross-linking agent for plastics, high-temperature materials, ore flotation auxiliaries, coating auxiliaries, polishing material auxiliaries, metal analysis reagents and building materials auxiliaries.
