Thiazoles are the earlier varieties of organic accelerators. Belongs to acid accelerator. It is characterized by high vulcanization activity, which can endow the vulcanized rubber with good aging resistance and fatigue resistance. Therefore, it is widely used in the rubber industry and consumes a large amount. There are two main varieties as follows. (1) 2 mercaptan benzothiazole The trade name is accelerator M. This product is light yellow powder with extremely bitter taste, non-toxic and stable in storage. It is a general-purpose accelerator. It has a quick accelerating effect on natural rubber and diene general synthetic rubber. It has good vulcanization flatness. The vulcanization critical temperature is 125°C. There is a possibility of encephalitis during mixing. It is easily dispersed in rubber and does not pollute, but it is not suitable for food rubber products. The amount used as the first accelerator is 1 to 2 parts, and the amount used as the second accelerator is 0.2 to 0.5 parts. It can also be used as a peptizer for natural rubber. (2) Dibenzothiazole disulfide The trade name is accelerator DM. This product is light yellow powder, bitter in taste, non-toxic, and stable in storage. Its characteristics and uses are similar to M, but its vulcanization critical temperature is 130°C. The activity increases above 140°C, has good aftereffect, and the vulcanization operation is safe. It is often combined with other accelerators to improve its activity.
