Flocculation Method For Rubber Accelerator CBS Wastewater

CBS is a post-activation rubber accelerator, which is obtained by mixing accelerator with aqueous cyclohexylamine solution and adding sodium hypochlorite dropwise with stirring to produce an oxidation reaction. After the reaction, semi-finished products are produced and then filtered, washed and dried to obtain finished products. The production wastewater mainly comes from washing and filtration, which is difficult to be treated effectively by biochemical technology because of its high salt content, high COD concentration, complex composition, and difficulty in biodegradation.

Flocculation and precipitation method is to add inorganic flocculant or organic polymer flocculant to the wastewater and prepare it into aqueous solution, which will produce the effect of compressed double electric layer, so that the suspended particles in the wastewater will lose the stability of polymer, and the colloidal particles will coalesce with each other to make the particles increase, and the formed flocs and alum flocculants will grow to a certain volume and leave the aqueous phase and precipitate under the action of gravity, so as to remove a large amount of suspended matter in the wastewater and reduce the COD of the wastewater.

Inorganic polymer flocculants have the advantages of low price, high turbidity removal efficiency, strong decolorization ability, wide temperature range, fast floc formation, pH range, etc., but the formation of small flocs, large dosage, high concentration of residues.

For rubber accelerator CBS wastewater, some researchers treated CBS wastewater with PAC and PAM compound flocculation. After adding the inorganic flocculant PAC, the floc volume is small and a large number of flocs are formed, and the morphology is relatively smooth; after adding the organic polymer flocculant PAM, the destabilized coalescing particles can rapidly form large flocs, so the flocs show different characteristics of aggregation morphology and exhibit a better dewatering performance.
