I. Overview
With the progress and development of the aging process, the performance of rubber and its products will gradually decrease to completely lose the use value. In order to extend the service life of rubber products, it is necessary to mix some substances that can inhibit the aging process in the rubber, thereby prolonging the storage period and service life of rubber and its products. These substances are called antioxidants. There are many types of anti-aging agents with different effects. According to its main functions, it can be divided into anti-thermal oxidative aging agents, anti-ozonants, harmful metal ion inhibitors, anti-fatigue agents, ultraviolet absorbers, anti-cracking agents, etc.
2. Status of supply and demand
After more than ten years of rapid development, China's rubber additives have formed an industrial system with complete varieties, reliable performance indicators, and a relatively reasonable structure, which basically meets the development needs of the domestic rubber industry. Moreover, the proportion of output in the world has increased year by year, and the current output has accounted for more than 70% of global products, becoming the world's major production and supplier. In 2020, China's rubber antioxidant output was 367,000 tons, a year-on-year decrease of 1.34% from 372,000 tons in 2019.
The production of rubber antioxidants in China is mainly based on 6PPD (4020) and TMQ (RD). In 2020, the output of 6PPD (4020) will be 198,000 tons, accounting for 53.95% of the total output of antioxidants; the output of TMQ (RD) will be 111,000 tons. It accounts for 30.25% of the total output of antioxidants.
From 2014 to 2020, China's apparent demand for rubber antioxidants remains between 330,000 and 370,000 tons. In 2019, China's apparent demand for rubber antioxidants is 360,100 tons, and in 2020, China's apparent demand for rubber antioxidants is 355,600 tons.
