Antioxidants are a class of substances that prevent and resist the oxidation process of substances. Its types are very rich, including low molecular weight and high molecular weight; there are natural and synthetic ones.
Classification of Antioxidants
primary antioxidant
Typical primary antioxidants include the following two categories:
Aromatic amine antioxidants: Amine antioxidants are almost all derivatives of aromatic secondary amines, mainly diaryl secondary amines, p-phenylenediamines, ketoamines, and aldehyde amines. Most of them have good antioxidant performance, but are prone to color stains, and are mainly used in the rubber industry and polyurethane products.
Hindered phenolic antioxidants: the most widely used class of primary antioxidants. The antioxidant effect is generally weaker than that of amine antioxidants, but it is not polluting. It is mainly used in plastics and light-colored rubber products. Many famous products such as 1010, 1076 belong to this category
auxiliary antioxidant
There are mainly two categories of thioesters such as thiodipropionate and phosphites. They are mainly used in polyolefins in combination with phenolic antioxidants for synergistic effect.
Phosphite is the most widely used auxiliary antioxidant, typical products such as 168.
Thioethers are another class of auxiliary antioxidants, typical products such as DLTDP and DSTDP
metal passivator
When the polymer is in contact with heavy metals, the catalytic effect of heavy metal ions will cause the polymer to degrade. For example, the core wire of the cable material is copper, which often causes copper damage. Therefore, a copper ion passivator needs to be added. improve the stability of the polymer.
Scope of application
Polyolefins: PP, PE, LDPE, EVA, LLDPE
Styrene: ABS, PC/ABS, IPS, GPPS
Elastomers: S-SBR, BR, EPDM, SBS/SRS, TPE
Polyvinyl chloride: PVC
Polyurethane: RIM, TPU
Engineering plastics: PC, PMMA
